Old Pecan Street Fall Festival 2007

Among tons of art and craft festivals we did this year, this Old Pecan Street Fall Festival has been famously known for its "best" visitors. Well, for craft vendors -like us- it doesn't matter how big crowd is, what matter most is this crowd would buy things from us.
The festival was held on September 29-30, 2007. Loel and I started loading our stuff the night before. As usual, Loel was a bit lazy and wanted to do it in the morning. But I insisted we do it that night because I don't want to see him grumpy all morning which would ruin our whole -might-be-a-fun-day. He agreed!
We left Saturday morning at 9am and started our booth pretty quick (hey, we've been doing it almost 2 years now!). Later that afternoon I got a chance to wander around downtown Austin a bit and took some pictures to show to you gals!
Ok. Here some cool things in Austin that you may not find it anywhere else:
1. Old buildings. Along 6th Street lay old buildings which are now -mostly- serving as kafes and bars. The City tries its best to preserve them. Most of these buildings were built in 1800s. They look unique and artistic in a day and become really "alive" at nite. Austin gives a big appreciation to music and musicians. They even have a non-profit organization to help musicians with their career, health benefits, etc.

2. Horse carriage. This special carriage ride includes a tour of the Texas Capitol, Governor's Mansion, the historic homes of the Bremond Block, a trip past Town Lake, and your choice of 6th Street or the Warehouse District. You can also have it for your special wedding ride! Only you cannot have those 'Just Married' cans in the back or it would scare the horse away ha..ha..

3. "Becak" or here it's called Pedicap. You may no longer be able to find it in Jakarta. But here in Austin, you can enjoy the ride around 6St. Street on a becak. These "becaks" are fully licensed by the City of Austin and they work for tips from customers. Ain't that cool??

4. Duck Ride. This is an amphibian vehicle which can take you for a tour to the lake of Austin. Yes. I mean to the lake, just like a boat (or ferry) and then come back to the city. They have a special pool/stop on 6th Street.

Here you can see the pictures of what I just told you. Enjoy!
